Muddin' Gone Wrong

My grandsons stayed with my Mama while I worked. Mama had her other grandson there also. Their ages 8, 7, and 5. It had been raining several days. The last thing I told my grandsons was to be good for your granny.

The boys had been outside riding their bikes for quite awhile. My mama went to check on them and all three were stuck in the mud in their garden. Mason got stuck and the more he pulled his boot to come out, the tighter grip the mud had on them. The others tried to get him out. One may have accidently pushed instead of pulling. Whatever happened that day may remain a mystery.

My mama came out and all she saw was them wallowing in the mud. I can't even imagine what went through her mind. Three boys covered from head to toe in mud. Mason said, "I tried to get out and the mud just sucked me in." I said, "That happens." Needless to say the mud had to come off. They had to strip all their clothes off except underwear. Mama made them all go sit on the couch and not say a word until she said so. Can you just see those boys sitting there?

They eventually got to leave the couch that day. It will be a day to remember. Mud is like glue once in there, there was no easy way out. They were trying hard to get out, but the mud won that day. I am sure they will run through mud again at some point in their lives. This is one story they will remember for a very long time.
