Homemade Pumpkin

I went with my grandson and his mama to a pumpkin patch last week. I told him we would make a pumpkin pie out of the pumpkin I got. He came over today and we did lots of fun things like riding the golf cart, checking on my mama and daddy, seeing Auntie M.

I came in the house and asked was he ready to make the pie? He said, "yes."
So we get started. I am one of these that go by the recipe some and then do what I want to make it my recipe. My boss lady had brought me some real vanilla from Mexico and it was great. I used sugar cinnamon, apple spice, cinnamon, sugar, four eggs, cooked the pumpkin, and then put it in the shell.

It was really good. I am not a big pumpkin pie fan, but this was really good. I believe it had a lot to do with not using canned pumpkin. Made all the difference in the world. Also there was a pecan topping that could have been put on top, but I was out of pecans. I will try this for sure next time.  By the way this was my first ever homemade pumpkin pie.

Trip to Blue Ridge Parkway

It's fall and the leaves always fall at this time of year. I live in Georgia and lots of our leaves have started turning. It's apple time and lots of people like to go take a trip to the mountains to see the leaves.

I have not been to Blue Ridge Parkway in twenty five years. The last time I went I was pregnant with twins. We could not even get to the Parkway. It was snowing and yes it was very pretty.
So, my daughter and I planned to go up one day and enjoy the scenery. It was beautiful and I always go a different way than I came. I like going off the normal path most people take. I love taking pictures of nature.

Also, we went to Mount Mitchel State Park.  Even though it was paved, one park ranger said, "I don't think you can her up there." A female park ranger told us it would be no problem. It was only 300 feet, but steep. A nice couple helped us part of the way up and going back down. My daughter was in a wheelchair and I told her we had came all this way and there was no way that I was not going to push her to the top

My daughter told someone, when the man said, "You can't do it." My daughter thought to herself, "You don't know my Mama!" I always told my daughter, "Can't never could do anything."
Enjoy the pictures and if you're ever around Asheville North Carolina take a little time to go up and see Mount Mitchell. You won't be disappointed.

Kids and grandkids

We had our reunion Saturday. My two grandsons and daughter outside playing afterwards. My oldest was being silly when I asked him to cheese for me. The joy they have brought to all of our lives. If you have children, grandkids, or someone you've adopted as yours give them hugs and kisses today. You never know what they may be going through and one simple hug can change their day.

Fair is in the Air

Started my day with corporate prayer at church. Received a phone call from my grandson and son wanting me to go to the fair. A few hours later here I go. We ride every ride that he can ride. He and his daddy rode the roller coaster. At three years old he did great. I love ferris wheels. One of my favorite things. I love to get to the top and just look all around. One thing I noticed tonight, no crying kids. Happy, happy faces. Candy apples, cotton candy, lots of food everywhere you go. If you see a fair in your hometown go take a trip and enjoy the rides.
