Get the Rope

Last week my son, grandson, and daughter in law took off to the lake. See the boat in the background my son and his grandaddy use to ride in it a lot before he died. My son cleaned and worked and worked some more on it to get ready to take her for a spin. We take the boat down and first thing he had to get a gas hose. I guess it had rotted. Off he goes to town. Whew! Bought the last one they had.
Got that fixed and now to get the boat off in the water. Push!!
Putt, putt, putt. My son tried and tried to crank it. No go. Meanwhile the boat was drifting down in the cove and my son had no way to get back. I forgot to mention that the wind was blowing on top of all this. He was getting madder all the time and the boat just kept on drifting. He hollered from in the cove where he had drifted and said, "Get the rope!" I had no idea that I was going to have to walk through the woods with no path to go by and start pulling him back to the boat ramp. You should have seen me. Did I mention that I had to get in the water to pull him, and it was freezing cold. I even had to stop several times to just get my legs out for a few minutes so, I could keep going. I looked over at my son one time while I was pulling, and he had a little smirk and wanted to laugh as we got closer to the bank. You could only imagine.
What a relief it was to get me out of the frigid water. Lots of people had been doing challenges on facebook. People were just jumping in and getting out. A whole different story from mine. Since this day I have really liked being on dry ground. We have taken the little boat out and it worked great. Have a wonderful weekend everyone and stay dry.
