Thought for Today

Everybody must have someone to believe in them and give them hope. We've all been through things that have caused us pain.

Death, abuse, divorce, sickness, fatherless, motherless, and the list goes on.

Pain causes us to see things in a new ray of light.

Families share

Families grow.

Families connects.

Families protect.

Families are stronger together, than alone.

Hartwell Dam

This weekend was the fourth time Hartwell's spillway gates have been opened (1964, 1994, 2013).This is the Hartwell Dam, in Hartwell Georgia. We have had lots of rain this year and then snow came. Beautiful place to visit if you're ever in the area.

Remember When

Remember days gone by when grandmas's would make apple pie with this. This particular one is my grandma's. Can I say, that it's very old. I use to go to the mountains of North Carolina and see my grandparents.

Grandma would always want to cook. I use to watch as she rolled out the dough for biscuits, pies, and other things. My goal was to one day be able to make a pie.

My daughter and I did make some the other day. All homemade. Imagine that!

From start to finish it was great. I kneaded the dough and put it in the fridge to cool overnight. If you've never tried it, you should. It's not that hard and it's lots of fun making memories with my daughter to be passed down. Have a wonderful week and enjoy the things you do. Always make things you do fun.

Jump Off Rock

Took a little day trip up to Jump Off Rock in Hendersonville NC. Nice drive and well worth seeing. There are several trails you can take or just look off from the top. Either way it was beautiful.

Twin Falls

Took a little day trip to Pickens, South Carolina.  My daughter and I have been wanting to go hike this waterfall. When we got there it started thundering and I said, "hopefully it will hold off til I see the falls.

I make it to the falls and there was a shelter you could hang out at. I wanted to get closer so I went below the shelter onto the rocks. I started up and there a few couples up on the rocks taking pictures. I go on up.

About that time as I was almost to the bottom of the falls it starts to sprinkle. I had to hurry to get my picture. I had just put my camera back in the bag.

The bottom fell out and I was a was getting wet by the minute. I had to slide on my bottom all the way down because of the rocks being so slippery from the rain.

I was drenched by the time I got back to the shelter. Next time I go, I will be better prepared in case the weather changes on a dime. Here is the link if you ever get down this way.

Sneak Peek

Sneak peek of a hardcover book made with prom pictures I took. You can never put a price tag on getting your pictures printed. My daughter helped with designing the book. Nothing takes the place of having the printed product in your hand. I love looking at them whenever I want and they are great Mother's Day, and Father's Day gifts to give to friends and family. Shutterfly is really great about getting them to you on time. Don't hesitate to put your prints in a book to be cherished for a lifetime.

Sliding

My sister's grandson had a birthday party. Everyone was there. Presents, cake, slides, and more. My grandson loves me to climb and slide with him. This day was no different. Up and down, Up and down.

I heard my someone tell me that my mama wanted to go up and I said, "We can do this."

She started up and came half way down. I said, "I thought you wanted to go up?" She said, "I know I did, but I don't think I can make it. I told her. that with my help she could So, up we go.

It was one more battle to get her all the way up. No handles to hold to. I took her hand and guided her up. She looked up at me and said, "Do you want me to have a heart attack? " I said, "No mama, you can do this. We joked, and I kept reassuring her that she would be fine.

Finally at the top she collapsed and said, "I did it!"

We all laughed. She was the one that wanted to go up.

She grew up hard. She lived in the mountains of North Carolina. Times were very hard. Things we take for granted she would have cherished in her day. Her parents never let her go to the fair, movie show, etc... Even at Christmas time she would get a pack of bobby pins and would be thrilled to get them.

To conquer the slide was a big thing to her on this day.

Mama came up and wanted to see the pictures. I told her, "She was scared and she said, "I wasn't scared" I said, "Mama I about had to push you up there. Lol! She was telling Madison that she was glad she done it. We had fun picking at her. She said, "I done good for a 75 year old woman," I said, "Yes, you did." She didn't get to do a lot of things when she was a kid. She is making up for lost time.
