Middle School

Me and my grandson as he just graduated 6th grade. He will be going to middle school this coming year. It's hard to believe he's already as tall as I am. Kids they grow up so fast. Take time parents, grandparents to pour into them while you can.

Screw went bad

I had bunion surgery back in July. I have had more pain with this one. I went back 3 months ago and one of the screws is coming out. I went back again this past week, and the screw has backed out a little bit more. I will be having surgery soon to take the hardware out. Sometimes this happens. My foot is healed so that is a good thing. Not the way I wanted to start 2023, but things happen, and they have to be dealt with.

February 20th, 2023, the hardware was taken out. I am home. Recovery is about three weeks. I had 2 screws that were backing out of the hardware. Go figure I had to be the one that had botched screws.

I hate that I had to have surgery again, but it's not the end of the world. A little down time and then back to work I'll go. I am glad I had the surgery. No more crooked feet. If you need it done, get it done. It will be worth it.

So, today is March 10, 2023, I was released to go back to work this past Monday. I worked for 3 hours and did good. Some say, the surgery is to rough, I say, it was not to bad. Surgery is surgery. It was worth it. Now, I can fit into most shoes without holes being put in them by my feet. If you have bunions, you know what I'm talking about. Have a blessed day and enjoy every day.

It's been over a year since I had my last bunion surgery. The pain I was having under the big toe is gone completely. The pain was so worth have the surgery to correct both feet. Don't hesitate to have it done. I can wear shoes that don't hurt my feet.

Bunion

Today has been one of those days I had bunion surgery. Been in a little more pain just because of me putting all my weight back on my leg.  I was in the cast 2 weeks. Now, I'm in a boot. I had to go back to my doctor the other day the boot they gave me was to small. Oh, what a difference small and medium are.

I had one done 3 years ago and wished I had of got the other done sooner, but my Mom got sick and some other things came up and it was postponed. Now I have 2 straight feet. I am so glad to have it done.I will be down for about 7 weeks. This is week four for me. Don't hesitate to do it.

It will be well worth it. My back will be so much better. I like to walk, and jog. I'm so looking forward to getting back it my swing. Bunions are hereditory. They will not get better. Only worse.

Snow Day in Georgia

It's snow day in Georgia. January 16, 2022

It had been snowing all day in Georgia and the kiddos were dying to go outside. So, off we go in the snow. Throwing snowballs, sledding down the hill, riding the four wheeler all over the place. Makensie had just lost her first 2 teeth at one time. She's a cutie for sure. Hope all of you are safe and have power during these cold winter days and nights.

Morning

It's a fall kind of day in Georgia. Love those mornings you get up with sounds of birds singing, just me and my coffee sitting by the window side.

You can think on good or bad. I choose the good things. Like my grandkids and my son and daughter. They get on your last nerve at times, and then again the house is so quiet when they are gone. I have work today. I clean houses, and rental houses. I also am a substitute teacher at the elementary schools. Kids if we could be like them again and not have a care in the world. I do try to be like them at times and think back to those carefree days. I hope all of you have a great day. Do something fun. Take a walk in the park. If not the park take a walk in your backyard. Smile more. Take care of you. Cook something you haven't cooked in awhile.

Random pic of my son and his sons.

This is a picture of my 2 big boys. Love you guys so much. One day you will see all the pics I've taken of all of you. We had this taken at the Christmas tree farm-2020.

Saturday, September 5, 2020

Good morning everyone. Hope you are doing great today. I woke up this morning with a pain in my lower back. I pulled something in my low back while cleaning houses the other day going down backward on a flight of stairs. Done my stretches and going to make the most of today. I believe I will take a small road trip to get apples today.

My Mom has a biopsy on the 15th of September. She is nervous of course, but I'm believing that it's not cancer and go forth from there. I found out she had a knot on August 3rd, 2020. The same day I was diagnoised 4 years ago. How ironic is that? It was like a blow in the face. I am overcoming and now she is where I was. l

We all have situations in our lives that we must overcome and no one is exempt. Praying for all today that are going through anything. I pray you rise above your situation and trust in the one who always can bring you through. My Mom had a masectomy on one breast and is doing really great. She's 81 years old and is a survivor.

A Little Spring

A little something from Georgia to brighten your day. I hope everyone is doing ok. Here we are sheltered in like most across the U.S. I have been keeping busy trying to get my flower beds in better shape. One of the flowere I love is my purple thrift. It is low maintenance and low on the ground. It makes a great ground cover. Praying everyone has a safe week.

General Lee

These are my two grandsons they got general lee's for Christmas. I got something similar to what the car looked like. They loved them and then the oldest got to picking apart what the real looked like. I thought to myself only he would pick it apart. The hood was black. I told him we can fix that with a little orange paint. I also used stickers for the flag and numbers . He noticed that right off the bat. I told him that you should be thankful for what I tried to do. But you know kids.

Spunky

This is my granddaughter. Isn't she a cutie. This is 2019 Christmas at Gram's.
She is 3 and spunky as can be. We had a good Christmas. Looking forward to what the year 2020 holds.

Divorce

I hate it!
I went through a terrible divorce i 1997 that involved mental and physical abuse. During those years of recovery from divorce it was a nightmare. I would do all sorts of things to stay busy and take care of my twins.
Now, in 2019 I never imagined I would go through this again with my son, and his four kids. It's like living it again, but in a different place.
My son left his wife on August 9th. One of the worst days I've had in a long time. Each have their faults, but it has been so rough. I don't ask for prayer much, but this I am asking for intercessors to intercede.

My four grandchildren were told you have to go now by mom! Never prepared them for what was coming at all. The other grandparents girlfriend came to pick them up. The boys who are eight and five had a fit. The youngest the mom tried to push him in the back of the suv car and he wasn't having it. They tried at least five minutes to get him in and he would not budge. I ended up taking them over to the other house and they were still crying when I left. It breaks my heart. I had to go through this with my ex-husband many, many years ago. It was hard then and it is so hard now. I know God will help my family get through this.

The kids stay over at our house and great granparents all the time. It's rough and that's all I'm saying for now.

I wish I could help her through this, but I can't. It's like she's put up a wall and won't let people in anymore.

Things are settling down some. She has the boys in counseling to help with the divorce. They are adjusting as well as expected.

Life With Four Grandkids

Life with 3 boys and 1 girl is always very interesting.
At the fireworks show at Lake Hartwell 2019 Bryson almost knocked his front tooth out. Blood gushing out and the front tooth now moved some which left a small gap in the front. The dentist said, "hopefully the tooth would go back into place."
It was only a couple of years ago that he knocked the same tooth while he and his brother Mason was playing.

Post-Op

June 19, 2019

Good report. Everything is going as planned.
Phase one-Cast removed
Dead skin scales and long hair everywhere-lol
Now, on to phase two of my bunion recovery
New boot for my foot.Very stylish if I must say so.
First time I put my foot down I thought oh my, this
going to be rougher than I thought.
I also had to get a four prong cane to help with my
balance. I have walked some today. Unsteady some.
Which I expected and as I kept walking I just had to
slow down.
My mind wanted to just start back walking
but my body told me otherwise.
It was my my first day on the cane. I was very tired and my foot
and big toe was a little sore. Tylenol was my friend last
night and prayer. Thanking God for helping me through this.
Thanks to my daughter, my mom, my grandsons, Keller, Sybil,
my church family checking in on me, and last but not least
my daddy who has taken me and drove me everytime I
had to go back to the doctor.

One thing I have missed is my driving. I have not driven in
five weeks, and that is the rough for me. I have never been
down this long. Never ever!

June 20, 2019

Today has been better. I have walked some with the cane
putting a little weight on the foot. I am getting stronger everyday.
Thanks for all the prayers.

June 21, 2019

Foot bothered me a little during the night. I loosened the boot
up and that helped. I woke up this morning and iced it. As of
now it's doing good. Today is a good day and I am getting
motion back in my toe everyday.
Tried to get out for a little bit this evening. Not a good idea.
My right leg tried to lock up on me. I guess cause it is pulling
all the weight.

June 25, 2019

Today I called my foot doctor and asked about how much I should be walking.
Found out I was doing to much. No wonder my foot has been swelling.
Oh well,  I only have a few more weeks to be down. I am getting there
one day at a time. Just wish it would be sooner.

July 4th

It's been six weeks since I drove. I will be glad to get rid of this boot next week. We shall see what the doctor says next week. Praying my foot is healing up nicely. I know it takes up to a year for the swelling to go down. I know it's one phase after another.

July 9

Just a few more days with the boot on my foot. I will not miss the boot and I will not miss the cane. I have gotten so tired of the cane I could throw it in the lake. Funny I know, but not funny. I have a new perspective on people who use canes, scooters, boots after foot surgery. Until you've done it you have no clue what other people go through.

July 12th, 2019

Did not go as I wanted it to.  One little spot has not completely healed up yet. So, that means I must be in the boot at least three more weeks. I am making the best of it. I am not where I was. I only have about 6 weeks or more til its healed. Just have to make sure nothing shifts in the process. This is one time I will do as the doctor says.

July 22, 2019

Today is Monday. Waiting on the day this boot comes off my foot.

Bunion Surgery~Before and After

Both of my great grandfathers had bunions. I remember one of them cutting his brand new leather boots so that the bunion would not hurt so bad. Bunions are hereditary. I had two not just one.  I have hated my feet for years. I would not wear those cute sandals everyone else wore. I wanted to, but just couldn't. I got into running over a year ago and that's when my back, hips, and other things got to hurting. I thought it was just me running, but come to find out it was my feet throwing everything else out.

My left foot was 16 degrees off. In other words it was severe. The doctor could not believe I was still running. I finally decided to have the left foot done on May 23rd, 2019.  I had outpatient surgery. It took 3 hrs to do.

I had a small plate put on the outside of my foot, so that I could contine to run. I had a nerve block which was so great. I did not have to take any pain meds for 2 days afterwards. Only thing is you can't weight bear for several weeks. I go back the 19th of June to remove the cast and replace that with a boot for a couple of weeks. I go back July 12th to get the boot off. We shall see.

Next phase will be weight bearing and not sure as of yet how that will go. It's been quite a journey with this surgery. I haven't driven in 6 weeks. That is a record for me. I have always drove. So, I have had to die to what I loved to do the most.

Bunions do not get better and even if you don't run it will still keep going the way it's going. If you look at the picture six years ago and look at it on surgery day you can see a big shift. You don't just have bunion surgery to have it. You have it when it starts affecting your everyday life. Then it's time to get it. I don't regret it at all.

Muddin' Gone Wrong

My grandsons stayed with my Mama while I worked. Mama had her other grandson there also. Their ages 8, 7, and 5. It had been raining several days. The last thing I told my grandsons was to be good for your granny.

The boys had been outside riding their bikes for quite awhile. My mama went to check on them and all three were stuck in the mud in their garden. Mason got stuck and the more he pulled his boot to come out, the tighter grip the mud had on them. The others tried to get him out. One may have accidently pushed instead of pulling. Whatever happened that day may remain a mystery.

My mama came out and all she saw was them wallowing in the mud. I can't even imagine what went through her mind. Three boys covered from head to toe in mud. Mason said, "I tried to get out and the mud just sucked me in." I said, "That happens." Needless to say the mud had to come off. They had to strip all their clothes off except underwear. Mama made them all go sit on the couch and not say a word until she said so. Can you just see those boys sitting there?

They eventually got to leave the couch that day. It will be a day to remember. Mud is like glue once in there, there was no easy way out. They were trying hard to get out, but the mud won that day. I am sure they will run through mud again at some point in their lives. This is one story they will remember for a very long time.

Merry Christmas

Wishing everyone a great Christmas. It's not about the presents or the tree. It is all about His presence and what He did for you and me.

Lots of people stress about the holidays. Don't! When I grew up it was about getting together with family and enjoying each others company. I miss those days. They were simple and not commercialized. Our culture has taken the fun out of everything. It's all about spending, and it should not be that way. Today I am making cookies with my grandkids. This is something I've not done in a long time. Let's put fun back into our days. Like when we were younger. Do something you haven't done in awhile. Make homemade Christmas cards. People love this and it comes from the heart.

Tell stories of long ago and share with your kids of growing up. Make those memories. They are something money can't buy. Take pictures that are treasures for years to come. Hot apple cider sounds good to me. The smell of cinnamon on the stove going through out the house. These are just a few of my favorite things.

What are somethings that you will do today that has been forgotten and put on a shelf?

Love all of you and wish you a Merry Christmas.
